Focus on results: what to focus on

Focus on results is the ability of an employee to combine the goal of a company with self-motivation in a well-organized work process, the result of which can be quantified and qualitatively measured. Often, employees whose work is focused on a specific result receive a payment with agreed rewards: a percentage of transactions, bonuses, bonuses, the size of which directly depends on the achieved result.

In addition to result-oriented employees, I exist and are process-oriented. Such employees are more likely to perform repetitive operations. There is really nothing wrong with that. There are a number of professions that need this quality. Such employees are more motivated for stability, prefer a certain schedule: secretaries, drivers, cashiers, hairdressers, etc.

Focusing on the result, first of all, is necessary for middle and senior managers, PR and HR managers, marketers, sales managers, real estate agents and other employees whose salary depends on the transactions made. Employers expect ambitiousness, excitement, the ability to quickly solve complex problems and make decisions, and a creative mindset from such candidates.

It is important to understand that you value more in your work - a process or a result, in order to know what to focus on. If you are looking for a job that is more process-oriented, but counting on career growth, Work.ua recommends not to forget about effective thinking. Indeed, even a cashier may eventually become a store director, thereby becoming not a “process worker”, but a “worker for the result”.

So, still you are focused on the result. How to convey this to the employer?
Summary

Add measurable successes to each place of work, i.e. the results you have achieved. Use perfect verbs: achieved, made, achieved, created, etc. Do not forget to indicate the orientation to the result in personal qualities, and the achievements listed above will confirm this.

A resume is just an opportunity to talk in person with a company representative. You will be able to fully demonstrate your determination at the interview.
Job interview

Your speech should be well delivered, and contain all the same verbs of perfect form. Your task is to explain that you know how to achieve your goal, to describe your work not from the point of view of the process, but from the point of view of the results achieved. Try to use more numbers in your story.

It is also worth preparing for typical questions: “What do you like in your profession?”, “What attracts you to this type of activity?” The answers should show you as a person of action.

Of course, initially it is worth determining which type of activity is closer to you, and whether you should strive for a position in which work on the result is primarily valued. For example, not every designer wants to become the head of a department and manage a team. Timely fulfillment of your tasks and improvement of skill can have a higher priority for you. Therefore, take into account the difference between the result of your daily work and the concept of “result”, which employers have in mind, indicating this in their vacancy announcements.
